Product Details

1.Description:
 The Ultrasonic Ranging Sensor Module is a product used to measure distance by sending and receiving ultrasonic waves, and then using the value of measured time and the velocity of sound works out the distance of the module and the obstacle. It can be used in mini-aircrafts to help them avoid obstacles.

2.Feature:
 1>.Continuously variable gain for control and side lobe suppression.
 2>.Object detection to zero range objects.
 3>.3V to 5.5V supply with 2mA typical current draw.
 4>.Readings can occur up to every 50ms (20-Hz rate).
 5>.Free run operation can continually measure and output range.
 6>.Triggered operation provides the range reading as desired.
 7>.Interfaces are active simultaneously.
 8>.The 42KHz ultrasonic sensor measures the distance of the object.
 9>.Multiple output modes, including analog voltage, RS232 Serial and pulse width.

3.Parameter:
 1>.Resolution Ratio:1 inch.
 2>.Operating Speed:20Hz.
 3>.Module:MB1040.
 4>.Work Voltage:5V.
 5>.Supply Voltage:DC3~5.5V.
 6>.Work Temperature:-25℃~85℃.
 7>.Work Humidity:0%~95%RH.
 8>.Size:22x20x15mm.

4.Application:
 1>.UAV blimps, micro planes and some helicopters.
 2>.Bin level measurement.
 3>.Proximity zone detection.
 4>.Robot ranging sensor.
 5>.Autonomous navigation.
 6>.Multi-sensor arrays.
 7>.Distance measuring.
 8>.Long range object detection.
 9>.Wide beam sensitivity.
 10>.Height detection.

5.Pin Out Description:
1>.Pin 1(BW):
  1.1>.Leave open or hold low for serial output on the TX output.
  1.2>.When BW pin is held high the TX output sends a pulse (instead of serial data), suitable for low noise chaining.

2>.Pin 2(PW):
  2.1>.This pin outputs a pulse width representation of range.
  2.2>.The distance can be calculated using the scale factor of 147 uS per inch.

3>.Pin 3(AN):
  3.1>.Outputs analog voltage with a scaling factor of (Vcc/512) per inch. A supply of 5V yields~9.8mV/in, and 3.3V yields~6.4mV/in.
  3.2>.The output is buffered and corresponds to the most recent range data.

4>.Pin4(RX):
  4.1>.This pin is internally pulled high.
  4.2>.The LV-MaxSonar-EZ will continually measure range and output if RX data is left unconnected or held high.
  4.3>.If held low the sensor will stop ranging. Bring high for 20uS or more to command a range reading.

5>.Pin5(TX):
  5.1>.When the BW is open or held low, the TX output delivers asynchronous serial with an RS232 format, except voltage are 0~Vcc.
  5.2>.The output is an ASCII capital "R", follwed by three ASCII character digits representing the range in inches up to a maximum of 255, followed by a carriage return (ASCII 13).
  5.3>.The baud rate is 9600, 8 bits, no parity, with one stop bit. Although the voltage of 0~Vcc is outside the RS232 standard, most RS232 devices have sufficient margin to read 0~Vcc serial data.
  5.4>.If standard voltage level RS232 is desired, invert, and connect an RS232 converter such as a MAX232.
  5.5>.When BW pin is held high the TX output sends a single polse, suitable for low noise chaining.(no serial data)

6>.Pin6(+5V):
  6.1>.Vcc-operates on 3~5.5V.
  6.2>.Recommended current capability of 3mA for 5V, and 2mA for 3V.

7>.Pin7(GND):
  7.1>.Return for the DC power supply.
  7.2>.GND(&Vcc) must be ripple and noise free for best operation.
